Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electronics Engineering Manager to join our R&D  team to support the development, build, and sale of the world’s best SCUBA diving computers and other mission critical diving electronics.

The Electronics Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and leading the electronics team, ensuring new and existing products comply with regulatory requirements and assuring quality of new products and key variations of existing products through testing and data analysis.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Key Result #1: Electronic Components Design

  • Support the design and prototyping of custom Electronics components

  • Design of electro-Electronics assemblies

  • Management of prototype and pilot builds

  • Creation of specifications for custom Electronics parts

  • Coordinate the definition of  bill of materials for Electronics components

  • Support evaluation of technical capabilities of suppliers.

  • Complete, review and approve documentation to company standards

  • Work with NPI test technicians to develop and execute test plans.

  • Work with Electronics engineers to ensure electronics mounting, encapsulation, and protection are designed for optimal reliability.

  • Assist with the specification of product requirements, especially as related to Electronics functions.

 

Key Result #2: Verification of functionality and performance of Electronics parts and assemblies

  • Support investigations of non-conforming Electronics issues in-field, in-production and incoming inspection stages

  • Determine necessary Corrective and Preventative Actions and Engineering Change Orders

  • Support/ troubleshoot Electronics problems for customers, service centers, and production.

  • Continuously improve Electronics reliability through research of best practices and evidence-based investigations into failure modes.

 

Key Result #3: Team Manager of Electronics Engineering Team 

  • Reports include Electronics engineers/designers

  • Lead, manage, mentor and develop the Electronics team

  • Ensure all team members plan and achieve their annual professional development goals.

  • Carry out regular 1-to-1 meetings with team members, team meetings, coaching sessions, resource and performance planning

  • Provide input into the annual budgeting and goal/rock setting

  • Ensure team has tools to support design, testing and propose options for future improvement.

 

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Must Have:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory/manager role

  • 7-10+ years experience as a Electronics Designer in an R&D environment developing commercial small form products

  • Progressive experience in Electronics board design and hands-on prototyping skills

  • Thorough understanding of electronics design, such as designs for wireless communications, CAN bus, GNSS and rechargeable batteries

  • Expert-level skills with electronics design applications, such as Altium

Important Experience:

  • University degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent

  • Able to multi-task on concurrent tasks and projects, ensuring timely,  and high-quality delivery.

  • Experienced with DFMEA and PFMEA techniques

  • Experienced with quality control systems and engineering documentation standards

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Effective technical problem solving and project management skills; capable of multi-tasking and moving several different agendas to successful conclusion

  • Top-notch interpersonal and teamwork skills with strong customer service orientation

  • Proven track record troubleshooting electronic design issues to achieve quality results

  • Familiarity with techniques for highly accelerated stress testing

  • Experience in the diving, outdoor, or consumer electronics industries is preferred

 

Salary Range:  Career Band 3: $90- 130k
