Diving in Truk Lagoon

Truk (officially Chuuk) Lagoon is one of the most remote diving destinations on the planet. Truk is located just north of the equator in the Pacific Ocean and is part of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Diving conditions in Truk Lagoon are excellent, it is relatively comfortable diving and Truk is ideal to visit all year round in terms of environmental conditions. The water is a warm all year, and there are no major thermoclines.

Truk Lagoon is known for it's world-class wreck diving. Having been in the lagoon for more than 80 years, the wrecks are covered in soft and hard coral growth but they are still largely intact. Some wrecks can be penetrated by divers who will discover torpedoes, engine rooms, airplanes, artillery guns, tanks, trucks and ammunition sunk in World War 2. Some wrecks lie in deeper waters making Truk Lagoon a perfect playground for technical divers.
