Job Posting: Equipment Engineer
Job Summary
The Equipment Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and managing production equipment, workstations, jigs, and fixtures used in manufacturing processes. This role ensures that equipment operates efficiently, safely, and meets required specifications. The Equipment Engineer takes a leadership role in establishing the Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) plan and oversees internal and external calibrations for all equipment and tools. Additionally, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining a spare parts inventory system and managing optimal stock levels, including operation and maintenance of compressors.
Responsibilities: Key Result Areas (KRA’s)
1) Equipment, Workstations, Jigs, and Fixtures (55%)
- Troubleshoot and resolve production equipment-related issues, implementing Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs).
- Design, customize, and commission new workstations, equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
- Research and source new manufacturing equipment, tools, and technologies.
- Establish and maintain equipment specifications, manuals, and documentation.
- Represent the Manufacturing Engineering team during New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
- Create troubleshooting guidelines and train staff accordingly.
- Provide technical support and training to the production team.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
2) Calibrations and Maintenance (25%)
- Calibrations:
- Perform equipment calibrations and manage outsourced external calibrations as needed.
- Maintenance:
- Oversee compressors, ensuring zero downtime.
- Develop and oversee the TPM plan.
- Create and maintain the spare parts inventory system.
3) Equipment Process Owner and Trainer (10%)
- ESD- Establishes ESD procedures, trains staff, raises awareness on the importance of ESD
- Soldering: Ensure proper use of soldering equipment and adherence to procedures.
- Laser Marking: Ensure appropriate jigs are used and processes are followed.
- Flow Hoods: Maintain contamination control on all flow hoods.
4) Continuous Improvements (10%)
- Participate in Continuous Improvement meetings and take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Continuously improve production equipment to reduce or eliminate TIMWOODS.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment performance and efficiency.
- Stay current with industry technological advancements.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or equivalent.
- Background as Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electronics/Electrical, Controls, Process, Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing, or Production Engineer.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), with experience in layout sketching (e.g., SketchUp).
- Minimum of 2-5 years of related engineering experience in the electronics manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills within tight timelines.

Career Band 2: $65,000-$100,000
