We changed the Bluetooth connection process on Perdix 3 to provide significantly faster dive downloads and stronger security. The new pairing flow may feel different from our previous dive computers, but it creates a secure connection between your Perdix 3 and each device you use.

The Perdix 3 can only maintain an active Bluetooth pairing with one Shearwater app at a time. If it is already paired with the Shearwater Cloud mobile app, it will not connect to the Shearwater Cloud Desktop app until it has been disconnected from the mobile app.

No. Once your Perdix 3 has been paired with your phone and the app, it will remain paired and should reconnect automatically whenever you select the Perdix 3 in the connect panel of the app and the dive computer has Bluetooth enabled.

You must remove the previous Perdix 3 connections from the connect panels of the Shearwater applications, from your mobile phone Bluetooth settings, and your PC Bluetooth settings.

Shearwater does not offer VPM-B unlock codes on newer computers such as Perdix 3 because these products are standardized around Bühlmann ZHL-16C with Gradient Factors. Bühlmann GF is the modern, transparent, widely supported decompression framework used across current Shearwater products, and it gives divers controllable settings for first-stop behavior and shallow-stop conservatism.

VPM-B remains a legacy model associated with older deep-stop bubble-model practice; recent decompression research and expert guidance have increasingly questioned the benefit of deep-stop profiles, and commercial-algorithm validation work found that Bühlmann GF can be tuned to pass proposed validation tests whereas VPM-B could not be tuned to address its too-deep first-stop behavior. For those reasons, adding VPM-B to newer products would create additional testing, support, and documentation burden without a clear evidence-based benefit for most customers.
